The Dannon Company is pleased to announce its 5th Dannon Gut Microbiome, Yogurt and Probiotics Fellowship Grant opportunity with you and your students in the sciences. Established in 2012, the Dannon Fellowship Grant has been expanded to include the gut microbiome in recognition of its remarkable potential on the human body. As part of their continued commitment to support scientists and advance research of the gut microbiome, Dannon is offering two grants of $25,000 each to undergraduate, graduate or postdoctoral scholars to enhance their academic path.

For students who are studying topics including the gut microbiome’s impact on human health and well-being and/or the nutritional and functional benefits of yogurt and probiotics, this is an exciting opportunity to not only receive educational support, but to connect with a leader in the field.  Besides the $25,000 award, Dannon Fellows are connected to each other through this scholarship, encouraging collaboration, communication, and future opportunity in the field.

In the past, the grant has assisted research on the use of foods as a delivery vector for beneficial bacteria, technology for studying the adaptation of fermentative microbes to milk, the effects of protein fermentation on the human microbiota and digestive health, and the relationship between probiotics, the gut microbiome and brain function.

Grant applications are now being accepted, and must be submitted by February 15, 2017 to qualify. For additional information, qualification requirements, and to download the application, please click here: http://www.dannon.com/fellowship-application/.
