STUDENT INTERN / PART-TIME COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST

(Non-Work Study or Work Study)

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) has one (1) part-time position available. This position requires an independent thinker to assist with the communication of OPA professional development programs and special events.

The Communication Specialist will be responsible for the following:

* Monitor and post to OPA social media including Facebook and Twitter

* Write press releases, scripts, marketing materials etc.

* Video Production (short videos)

* Assist with creating content and updates for website and electronic newsletters

* Assist with developing and writing text for social media

* Assist in the creation of signage, circulars, mock ups, e-mail campaigns, on line promotion, etc.

* Assist with the preparation and delivery of program materials for special events

Requirements

The Communication Specialist must be highly motivated and organized –able to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines. He or she must be able to function with minimal supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Knowledge of MS Office is required. Graphic design experience is a plus. The pay range is $10-$14 per hour depending on skills, availability, and whether or not the candidate is non-work study or work study. The successful candidate will be expected to work an average of 10 hours per week. Option to work remote with flexible hours.

OPA is supported by the Office of the Provost, the Vice Chancellor for Research, and the School of Medicine, the office services postdoctoral scholars, faculty, and staff in all disciplines, schools, and colleges at the University.

* To develop a sense of community among UNC postdocs and integrate postdocs into the larger university community

* To support faculty in the recruitment, retention, and success of postdocs at UNC
