About the position

The Writing and Learning Center is looking to hire a graduate Teaching Assistant to support fellow graduate students for the fall semester with extension into the spring after successful review. The position will be primarily remote but will require occasional in-person work.

The person in this position will support graduate students by:

  • Offering workshops on graduate-level writing and productivity (many already created)
  • Facilitation dissertation boot camp each month (five consecutive days, either full mornings or full afternoons)
  • Providing some 1:1 coaching to graduate writers

The Teaching Assistant is expected to work 15 hours per week (with adjustments made for overages during boot camp weeks) and be compensated with a stipend of $7,850 per semester and health insurance. While the position does not provide tuition remission, most students who work for the Writing and Learning Center are able to get tuition remission through their department.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching university-level writing, at the dissertation stage, and/or who have experience with Writing and Learning Center services.

The Teaching Assistant will be trained and supervised by Senior England Language Specialist, Dr. Gigi Taylor, and would also participate in the larger community of the Writing and Learning Center.
