About the position
The School of Government is now accepting applications for a research assistant to work with a JD faculty member to determine if there is evidence of systemic bias in Mecklenburg County’s property tax appeal process. The specific goals of the study are to determine if property tax appeal rates and appeal results are materially related to property value, taxpayer race, and taxpayer income. This will require analyzing data from 25,500+ appeals and 200,000+ parcels.
Necessary skills: Excel data management
Preferred skills: working with U.S. Census block group demographic data in relation to geocoded county tax data.
Time commitment is flexible and pay is $20/hr.
