Application Deadline: January 15, 2022

The Carolina Population Center’s Training Program equips students with the skills, subject matter expertise, and interdisciplinary perspective to become leaders in the next generation of population scientists. We offer two formal programs: one in Population Science and one in Biosocial Science. Both programs combine coursework, professional development, and mentored research collaborations that span CPC projects and research areas.

We are currently accepting applications for traineeships for AY 2022-2023. The term of appointment is one year, beginning August 15, 2022. The review committee will consider applications from PhD students who already have confirmed funding in place for the next academic year as well as those seeking funding.

Applicants must be admitted to or currently enrolled in a program leading to a doctoral degree at UNC. Applicants from any department are welcome to apply. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents at the time of appointment in order to be considered for a T32-stipended traineeship. Please see the program websites for additional eligibility information.

Please contact Training Manager Abigail Haydon ( with questions or to request an application. Please specify the program(s) to which you are interested in applying.
